Daarin had Meijer zeker gelijk. Alex Gill van Stal Marcel de Boer plaatste zich met twee paarden voor de barrage, stalgenoot Alexander Chitty was ook van de partij, net als Marcel de Boer zelf. Vier van de zes paarden kwamen dus uit de stal in Nieuwleusen, een prestatie op zich. Zowel Chitty als Gill zijn jonge Engelse ruiters, die het erg goed doen. ,,Alex heeft de meeste ervaring en we hopen dat hij zich kwalificeert voor het Europees Kampioenschap dit jaar in De Wolden”, aldus Marcel de Boer.
Alex Gill leek als voorlaatste starter in de ZZ-barrage de overwinning niet te kunnen ontgaan. Met de kwaliteitsvolle schimmel Don Velner (v. Carthino Z) reed hij foutloos en stuurde hij op indrukwekkende wijze kort rond. Het resulteerde in een tijd van 31.78 seconden. Daarmee verbeterde hij zijn eigen rit met Guppie VDL (v. Arezzo VDL).
Alleen Marleen Meijer kon het ultieme succes voor Stal Marcel de Boer nog bederven. Met Abrinosa heeft ze een razendsnel paard onder haar zadel, maar ook een heet paard met een behoorlijke eigen wil. Ze probeerde het met succes en was met een tijd van 28.03 behoorlijk sneller dan Alex Gill, die tweede en derde werd.
Meijer: ,,Het leek inderdaad een onmogelijke opgave, maar ik weet dat Abrinosa een heel snel paard is. Daar moet je dan ook op vertrouwen. En met dat hete valt het wel mee. Ik moet er aan de voorkant niet te veel aanzitten, heel stil zitten en haar vooral met lichte gewichtshulpen de juiste kant op rijden. Ik had met Carmel de barrage al gereden, dat hielp natuurlijk wel.”
Voor Marleen Meijer was het al met al een geweldig Drents kampioenschap. Ze pakte de titel met Abrinosa, werd vierde met Carmel en ze zag vrijdag bovendien haar dochter Marscha Schütte kampioen worden in de klasse B met Cupper S.
In de klasse Z kwam het niet tot een barrage. Lisa Broekert wist met haar paard Mebo’s Galanthos B (v. Arthos R) als enige in beide omlopen foutloos te blijven en eiste daarmee overtuigend de titel op. Renate Beuving werd reservekampioen met Horsinaa (v. Indoctro), waarmee ze in de tweede omloop een foutje kreeg. Annemarie Hammers eindigde als derde met HVR’s Earth Wind and Fire.
Wim Pomp van de plaatselijke Stroomruiters eiste de Drentse titel op in de klasse M. In de volle barrage was hij met Bonhbouche B de beste. Samantha Bos eindigde met Innovator als tweede, Renate Beuving werd met Inx derde.
Anne Feenstra ponykampioen
Het ZZ voor pony’s werd knap gewonnen door Anne Feenstra, die met Knud van Orchids twee prima foutloze rondjes afleverde. In het Z D/E was na barrage Jo-Ann Troost de beste met Berktzicht’s Saffira.

In razend tempo zette zij de snelste rit neer en hield ze Manon van den Hof met Anemone Mabeline’s Elana achter zich. Aylana Smit werd kampioen M D/E met Moonlight Shadow en Annerieke Zinger pakte met Miss Alinda de Drentse titel in het M categorie C.
